Physiotherapist-led Pilates classes

Modified Pilates is a tailored exercise approach that harnesses strength, control, and body awareness for rehabilitation. By adapting Joseph Pilates’ original exercise repertoire and incorporating research findings on muscle function and body demands, it offers a safe and progressive programme for those recovering from injury, pain, or pregnancy and childbirth. With adapted exercises using equipment such as balls, rings, and resistance bands, modified Pilates empowers anyone to embrace Pilates no matter their fitness level

Postnatal Pilates

This is a weekly physiotherapist-led class for those who have recently had a baby and have had their postnatal GP check (at least 6 weeks post vaginal delivery/8 weeks post C section) and are looking to regain strength and confidence in exercise. Aimed at helping you to restore your core and pelvic floor, this class will progressively challenge you, using small equipment to adapt movements for your body. These classes are run as a course of 5-7 weeks (term time dependent), with a maximum of six mums in each class to ensure 1:1 attention for each client. Babies are welcome to stay beside you as you exercise and mats are provided for both you and baby. Classes are run at on Mondays at Burscough Cricket Club, where there is off-road parking and baby changing facilities available.

About me

I’m Genna, I qualified as a physiotherapist 10 years ago, and most of my experience has been gained in the NHS where I’ve worked in a wide variety of settings, from acute hospital wards to community rehab and outpatient musculoskeletal clinics.

I’ve enjoyed Pilates since long before I became a physio, and felt that it helped me in feeling strong during and after pregnancy. I decided to complete my training to become an accredited instructor and completed my matwork training with the APPI, and continue to work as a physiotherapist in private practice.
